Car Shipping - Vehicle Import to Romania Regulations

1. Shipper may be required to be present for Customs clearance
2. Subject to Customs duties and value added tax
3. Documents required:
- Sales invoice clearly showing price paid, date and place of purchase, and conditions of delivery
- Transportation invoice showing cost of transport (if applicable)
- Original vehicle document showing shipper’s name, engine and chassis number

All automobiles, including second-hand imports must be certified as meeting "Euro2" anti- pollution norms. There have been cases in which Romanian customs officials have denied entry to US imports because they are not labeled as meeting the anti-pollution requirement. Shippers should included documentation from US dealerships and manufacturers specifically certifying that the automobiles have "Euro2" consistent standards.
